Niobium is a purple metal which is useful for superconductors, chemical catalysts, and capacitors.
Production
In the early-game, breaking up rare earth chunks in an anvil has a 50% chance to produce a nugget's worth of niobium; and centrifuging the rare earth chunks guarantees a doubled output.
Purifying coltan into purified tantalite will produce niobium powder. rare earth bedrock ore will similarly yield one powder per washed sulfuric byproduct.
Uses
It also sees use as a catalyst in multiple machines.
Trivia
- Despite being used in superalloys and superconductors in real life, niobium has no alloy form in NTM.
- This is likely due to the presence of similar materials that fulfill its role, such as desh for its heat-resistance and or neodymium for superconducting magnets.
