An Insulator is a material that does not conduct electricity or heat. Insulators can be made of many different materials, just like in real life, although the item is usually treated as if it were made of rubber and are interchangeable as the original material is not considered.

Early into progression, farming hemp yields plenty of string, which can be used to mass produce insulators. Further into the game, a player would use their polymer automation to also create plenty of insulators.

Insulators are commonly found in structures like the oil rig, aircraft carrier, and forest chemical lab.

Uses

Insulators are used in a variety of uses in shielding electrical equipment, circuitry components (such as printed circuit boards), and wiring. They are also needed to make red copper cables, and every component in electricity pylons and connectors.
