Silicon is a silvery element with a bluish luster with semiconducting properties. It is vital for the creation of advanced integrated and versatile circuits — used through mid- and late-game NTM — as well as a few minor uses.

Production

Silicon is primarily produced through the arc furnace from various silicates, including sand, nether quartz, flint asbestos, and fiberglass. Additionally, it can be obtained from the new bedrock ore system; specifically, non-metal byproduct can be centrifuged or melted into silicon if initially treated with high-performance solvent. As a result, it is strictly post-polymer.

Uses

  • Silicon wafers can be stamped into their printed forms for crafting microchips and versatile circuits:

Versatile Integrated Circuit
  • Silicon boules can be acidized into nether quartz using oxygen, so it can be directly automated outside of the nether.
