Polymer is what its name implies, it’s a polymer, which can sometimes be confusing since there are multiple other polymers added. It is specifically a type of plastic.

Uses
Polymer is used in many machines, items, and even NTM added music discs.
It can be used in a wide variety of tools and useful machines, including electric tools when used with high-speed steel.
It can be used to make insulators (since it is one by itself) by placing two in a row in your 2x2 inventory crafting grid.
Trivia
- Polymer is just a different name for any plastic/rubber.
- It is specifically polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), as the recipe suggests, but it isn't specified as such in-game.
- Polymer is the first obtainable plastic, after unlocking oil cracking, it can be replaced with bakelite in all recipes.
