Redstone is an essential, naturally occuring mineral generating between Y-levels 0 and 15. It is used in the production of alloys such as red copper and the making of an early game battery, thus making it fundamental for progression and industrialization.

It comes in three main types: redstone dust, redstone ore, and redstone blocks. In the crucible, one redstone dust equals to one ingot (72 quanta).

Production

Mineral Deposits

Acquired from a common underground ore that yields a typical 4-8 ores per vein.

Bedrock Ore

It can be produced by processing its bedrock ore form, eliminating the need to mine it manually.

Crystals

Redstone ore can be processed through an ore acidizer to produce crystals, which yield 6 redstone dust per crystal.

Uses

Redstone's key use is being processed (in either the ore acidizer or the centrifuge) to produce drops of mercury. This makes it useful for making desh, further cementing it in progression.

The redstone ingot can be made using the crucible, which can be used to create red copper, albeit redundant due to the presence of redstone dust.

Red copper can also be produced in a blast furnace.

Trivia

  • When centrifuging redstone ore, it yields mercury. This implies redstone is some sort of natural compound between cinnabar and other unknown elements.
