White Phosphorus
For the more stable and common allotrope, see Red Phosphorus.
White phosphorus (abbreviated as "WP") is a very volatile and uncommon phosphorus allotrope. It comes as a waxy white bar, slightly yellow, that glows. Due to its volatility, it burns the player when held.
Production
It can be obtained rarely by mining nether phosphorus ore (10% chance), or by centrifuging it.

Uses
It doesn't have as many uses as red phosphorus, but it is still good for combat as it burns extremely easily and well.
WP ammunition gives entities shot with it the "Phosphorus Burns" effect, which damages the target directly instead of applying the vanilla burning effect. Dousing the target in water will only temporarily stop the white phosphorus from burning, quickly reigniting once the target is no longer wet. The effect itself isn't permanent though, meaning the target can simply stay submerged in water until the effect runs out to avoid taking serious damage.
Trivia
- Many types of WP incendiary weapons are considered illegal (hence the war crime tooltip)
- WP is nicknamed "Willie Pete" after the WWII Allied Phonetic alphabet for "WP".
- WP is technically not banned as it has non-weapon applications (usually smoke shells and grenades).
- WP can technically be used to make Red Phosphorus.
