Being used for crafting almost anything, steel may be the most important material when it comes to advanced technology. Getting steel is the very first step to start the industrial age - everything needs better and tougher parts.

Production

Steel can be made in a blast furnace, crucible, or rotary furnace by combining iron ingots or ore with coal, coke, or flux. Additionally, steel ingots can also be found in abandoned structures such as radio stations and nuclear power plants, and steel deco blocks are available almost everywhere, which can be turned into ingots at an anvil of a rate of 4 blocks to 1 ingot.

Uses

Steel is most commonly used in the form of plates - cells, machine casings, bomb bodies, and grenades are made from it. Pure ingots can be used for crafting various deco elements such as scaffolds and thin walls and for crafting armor and tools. Steel tools will last twice as long as iron tools and mine blocks a little bit faster.

Trivia

  • Steel can be made of diamonds since diamond is made of carbon (not in the mod though).
  • Thank Andrew Carnegie for mass-produced steel.
