Coltan is a dull ore that serves as the primary source of tantalium with a niobium byproduct. Coltan ore spawns in the overworld in one large vein in a roughly 1,000 block wide area, similar to australium ore, but the location is randomized. Locating it is easy with a coltass as it always points to the center of the deposit.

Mining the ore directly will drop a single chunk of coltan; silk-touch will give its ore form, which can then be shredded for a doubled yield.

It has a powder form which is used for the first steps of tantalium production. The powder is toxic similar to asbestos, hence a gas mask is recommended while working with any coltan-related processing.

Uses

It has no direct uses besides purification into tantalium.

Two coltan powders are purified with the use of 1 coal powder, 250 mB of hydrogen peroxide and 500 mB of liquid hydrogen in the chemical plant. The result is purified tantalite powder which is later used for Pandemonium(III)tantalite solution.
