Anvils

All anvils in order of tier

Anvils (not to be confused with the vanilla anvil) are a tiered crafting station that allows for the creation of various machines, structures, and items in some cases. There are multiple tiers of anvils with greater anvil tier primarily corresponding to a greater quantity of recipes being available, though currently some tiers of anvil do not have any greater functionality than the previous tier of anvil. The tiers of anvils roughly correspond to the progression of materials within this mod, so they can be used as a rough guide for what to do next in a playthrough. They are wholly distinct from normal anvils in Minecraft and do not perform any of the same functions.

Crafting

Iron and lead anvils can be crafted directly from blocks and ingots of their respective material, but higher tier anvils must be made by combining 10 ingots of the new anvil's material with an iron or lead anvil in another anvil's GUI. Additionally, the murky anvil is crafted directly by surrounding an iron anvil with UNDEFINED items obtained from processing digamma fuel rods.

Uses

GUI of an iron anvil with important areas highlighted in blue and numbered.

The GUI for the anvil can be accessed by right clicking it. At the moment, it cannot be automated meaning that certain functional blocks cannot be crafted automatically.

  1. Input Slots. Inputs for certain specific recipes, such as forged meteorite ingots, higher tier anvil crafting, and a variety of other useful recipes. When a valid combination is placed into the two slots, the finished product will appear in the output (#2).
  2. Output Slots. Outputs for the recipes mentioned above.
  3. Crafting Button. Performs a recipe a single time when a recipe is selected by clicking on an item in the selection GUI (#4) and the button is clicked.
  4. Crafting Catalog. Contains every possible crafting recipe for the anvil where items are pulled from the inventory and placed into the inventory when finished. Can be navigated using the arrows to both sides or the scroll wheel while hovering over the window.
  5. Crafting Catalog (Search). Searches the crafting catalog for any recipe that matches whatever is typed into it. Case insensitive.
  6. Item List. Displays the names of the items for a given crafting recipe and the name of what it outputs.

At the moment, the anvil is the only way to craft the assembly machine and the basic blast furnace which means that the anvil is necessary for early game progression and later tiers of anvils are necessary for manufacturing other progression necessary components. As well as this, anvils are incredibly useful at tier 4 and beyond for being able to allow the player to instantly craft plates and wires from metal with a single click as opposed to using a press or a lossy assembly machine recipe.

Tiers

  2. Osmiridium (Tier 8)
  3. Dineutronium (Tier 7)
  4. Ferric schrabidate (Tier 6)
  5. Bismuth bronze (Tier 5)
  6. Arsenic bronze (Tier 5)
  7. Ferrouranium (Tier 4)
  8. Desh (Tier 3)
  9. Saturnite (Tier 3)
  10. Steel (Tier 2)
  11. Lead (Tier 1)
  12. Iron (Tier 1)

Trivia

  • There are no recipes that require tier 8, so osmiridium anvils don't have a use yet.
  • An anvil made out of pure lead would make for an exceptionally terrible anvil in real life if one were to be made.
