Before trying to handle radioactive materials, please read up on Material Safety for your own safety and information.
Schrabidium
Main Page: Guide: Schrabidium Creation
Schrabidium is a rare and fictional superactinide in NTM which is very important in your progression. Its production is a bit hard but let's get started with it.
- To get your first few schrabidium ingots, you need to bomb uranium with radiation. To do so you need a det cord, radioactive barrel, 10 uranium ores and a detonator.
- Place the ten uranium in a square shape on the ground then bridge up 10 blocks, place your radioactive barrel, place the det cord on top of it and finally link the det cord to your detonator. You can use a block of TNT if the det cord doesn't work for some reason.
- Go far away so you don't get hit by radiation and detonate the det cord, you could also cover the radioactive barrel with concrete to minimize the radiation. Now there should be one or two ores of uranium turned into schrabidium ores.
Though you won't always be blastin' off uranium to get schrabidium. You need to make a schrabidium transmutation device to get schranium ingots which can then be centrifuged or crystallized further and smelted.
Schrabidium tools and armor are pretty good for early to mid game so you should make them but each piece needs one whole block of schrabidium.
ZIRNOX
Main Page: ZIRNOX
The ZIRNOX nuclear reactor is the first nuclear reactor that most players will be able to access and it serves as a gentle introduction into basic mechanics surrounding operating a nuclear reactor. It is the first early-game nuclear reactor. Similar to oil, its operation is described in more detail in its respective page but there are some components to its operation that may catch players off guard for the first time:-
- ZIRNOX outputs super dense steam, not normal steam. As such, the first fluid pipe that connects to the reactor should be set to super dense steam and the turbine it leads to should be set to super dense steam as well. The next pipe and turbine should then be set to dense steam as running a dense type of steam through a turbine will lower it down a level of compression (Ultra Dense Steam -> Super Dense Steam -> Dense Steam -> Steam -> Low Pressure Steam).
- If the reactor's temperature gauge is not at minimum 100C, then no steam will be produced. The reactor's temperature can be increased by venting CO2 and therefore allowing the reactor's core to run hotter, but the reactor will not function below 4000mb of CO2.
It is recommended not to rely on the ZIRNOX reactor for power over long periods of time due to it having greatly lower than average fuel efficiency compared to other kinds of reactors, so it is recommended to use it to provide power only as long as it takes to set up a slightly stronger reactor.
RBMK
Main Page: RBMK
The RBMK is one of the biggest reactors in this modpack but currently we only need a small one as we only are going to be doing small stuff. This is the page for detailed RBMK stuff and you should check it out.
To make a basic RBMK reactor, you need some components-(ok the rest ill do later, someone else can complete my work for me if they want to)
