BTX

BTX refers to mixtures of benzene, toluene, and the three xylene isomers, all of which are aromatic hydrocarbons.

The BTX aromatics are very important petrochemical materials. Global consumption of benzene, estimated at more than 40,000,000 tons in 2010, showed an unprecedented growth of more than 3,000,000 tons from the level seen in 2009.

In Nuclear Tech Mod, BTX, is a must-do fluid for your progression. As it is part of the late-game petrochemistry. BTX is a flammable and combustible viscous liquid that is stated as being a high fuel grade on the mod. It can also be polluting for your world. As said earlier, BTX is a must-do fluid for the progression, as it allows the creation of Hard Plastic in the mod, a useful resource for many things in the mod that allow you to progress further in it.

BTX can also be useful for creating a resource used to make the notorious FEnSU, the ultimate energy storage of the mod. We will have a look at the ways of production and uses for it.

Production

BTX can be produced in only 2 ways. And those are through Fractioning Tower(s). BTX can be acquired doing the following processes:

Reformate
1,000mB
Aromatic Hydrocarbons
400mB
BTX
600mB
Desulfurized Naphtha
1,000mB
BTX
600mB
High-Octane Diesel
400mB

Uses

Now onto the many uses of BTX. The fluid can be used in 5 ways in total in the following machines: Catalytic Cracking Tower / Chemical Plant / Ore Acidizer / Industrial Solidification Machine and Coker Unit. Firstly let's have a look into the way of using BTX in a Cracking Tower:

BTX
1,000mB
Steam
2,000mB
Aromatic Hydrocarbons
800mB
Petroleum Gas
200mB
Low-Pressure Steam

Trivia

Real Life Fact:

Toluene is also a valuable petrochemical for use as a solvent and intermediate in chemical manufacturing processes and as a high octane gasoline component.
