Rotary Furnace

From HBM's Nuclear Tech Wiki
The rotary furnace.

The Rotary Furnace is a 5x3 machine with the purpose of alloying metals. It requires fuel such as coal, and steam in order to keep running, which is cooled into low-pressure steam. While running, the machine processes solid and fluid inputs into molten metal, which can be cast similarly to the outputs of the crucible and arc furnace.

Crafting

It can be made with a tier 2 anvil or higher, it has the following recipe:

I/O & Usage

The GUI of a rotary furnace.

The Rotary furnace has a special I/O system. Similar to the arc welder, it has three color-coded item slots that correspond to three of its ports, all which are located on one of its sides. Next to those, there are two ports for the steam input and low-pressure steam output. The solid fuel input port can be found on the opposite side of the previous The front side contains two fluid input ports and the molten metal's output. All of those ports allow for this machine's usage and automation.

Recipes have varying durations and steam consumption rates, below are some examples:

Trivia

  • Despite being relatively cheap and accessible in the early-game, it is not necessary for progression until saturnite production.
  • Similar to the firebox, certain fuels give burn time (longer fuel duration) and burn heat (shorter recipe duration) bonuses
