Lead is a soft, silvery-grey (slightly blue), and toxic metal. It is fairly common and spawns at medium depths. Lead isn't particularly useful overall, but it does have specialized uses. Primarily used for radiation protection in hazmat suits, ammunition and solder.
It cannot be turned into gold without advanced machines or creative only items, unfortunately.
Production
Lead can be made by processing the ore itself, or as a byproduct of electrolyzing gold, beryllium, or copper crystals.
Lead can also be obtained from asteroid mining ships which give it as a common drop.
It can also be obtained by processing poisonous mud in a gas centrifuge.
Lead is a common decay product from many reactor and RTG fuels.
Uses
Lead is mainly used in hazmat suits and other forms of radiation protection, as well as in soldering and ammunition.
It can be liquefacted and used as coolant cor the PWR and ICF.
Lead plates are the primary components used to build a PWR.
Lead is also used to synthesize tetraethyllead, an antiknock agent that increases the flammability of a couple fuels, at the cost of heavy metal pollution.
Trivia
- It can be used to make lead apples, which simply poison the player depending on tier, with the lead block apple killing the player instantly.
- It is one of the two metal-based reactor coolants, liquid lead and liquid sodium
