Pollution

From HBM's Nuclear Tech Wiki

Pollution is a mechanic added to version 1.0.27X4627 affecting several machines related to early industrialization. It must be properly mitigated, lest suffer the consequences of a polluted world.

There are 3 subtypes of pollution, all of which can be tracked with a monitor:

  • Soot is the most common kind as it comes from most forms of fossil fuel burning and some other sources. It increases generic mob health and strength. At high enough levels, it becomes visible as smog.
  • Poison harms unprotected entities at high enough levels.
  • Heavy metal comes from the combustion of leaded fuels. It also increases mob strength, but also harms them at high enough levels.

They can also be harmful to a player if they aren't wearing gas protection.

Sources

Values are multiplied with a standard baseline multiplier for each type.

  • Soot: 1/25 per second
  • Heavy metal: 1/50 per second

Mitigation

Compatible machines can be connected to special exhaust pipes, which are effectively specialized box-ducts, to output to a chimney or smokestack to reduce the amount of pollution. Dead dirt can be restored to grass via spraying seeding slurry with a chemthrower
