Ghiorsium is a fictional superactinide element, heavier than even schrabidium. It has only 1 isotope currently, ghiorsium-336, which is non-fissile and rather stable.

Trivia

  • It is named after Albert Ghiorso, a very important figure in atomic science and element hunting.
    • Due to the name correlation, this fictional element is often erroneously conflated with oganesson (element 118), since element 118 was originally to be named "ghiorsium". NTM ghiorsium has no correlation with oganesson beyond this.
    • The tooltip is in reference to this, as "seaborgium" was named after Glenn T. Seaborg, another important person in element hunting, who got the element named after him by Ghiorso et al.
  • Its atomic number is 128, despite not being mentioned in the game.
  • No such element of 128 has been discovered yet.
  • It is considered to be "deeper inside the island of stability" than Schrabidium, which is why ghiorsium-336 is more stable, despite being heavier.
  • It is unknown if there will be more isotopes added beyond 336 in the future.
    • The original plan for ghiorsium headlined it as "the gate to the transschrabidics", involving a fertile and fissile isotope.
      • Ghiorsium-336 was supposed to be the fertile isotope, hence its stability.
      • Nothing came from the "transschrabidics" idea, so ghiorsium has limited uses.
