Actinium-227 is a highly radioactive radioisotope used in specialized applications due to it being an incredibly strong radioactive source. It forms naturally as the decay product of uranium and thorium, though in minuscule quantities so artificial breeding is the most common method of obtaining it in useful quantities.

Production

Can be most easily produced in a breeding reactor from radium-226 with a minimum required flux of 300. It can also be produced in the cyclotron by bombarding either caesium with copper or astatine with carbon, but this method is likely highly inefficient by comparison.

Uses

  • Actinium-227 RTG pellet which will provide 20 thermal power to any applicable machine for 156,960,000 ticks if RTG decay is enabled.
    • This is approximately equal to ~3 IRL months given its stated in-game lifespan of 32 years and 70 days (assuming a 100 day year), meaning it will make 3,139,200,000 power in total over that time.
    • Pellets decay into lead.

Trivia

  • In real life, it glows an "eerie" blue due to the rapid decay of and ionization from alpha and beta particles.
    • It neither glows nor is it pyrophoric in the mod even though it technically should be.
  • It was also going to be used as a neutron source, since that is a real-life application, due to its immediate decay products having extremely short half-lives and being alpha emitters.
