Crafting
A crafting table can craft the pepperbox with the following recipe:
Mechanics
With its ball and powder ammo producing an entire reload's worth per craft, the pepperbox excels at its task of being an inexpensive long-range option. With 300 durability, it can fire 75 times before receiving a gradual damage penalty.
Iron ball and powder is well-suited for dealing with skeletons, thanks to the ammo's innate accuracy and 1.5 damage multiplier, as well as crowds: it can penetrate multiple mobs without any damage falloff and ricochet up to 5 times. However, the pepperbox's sluggish fire-rate — with a delay of 1.35 seconds per shot — limits its utility in close-quarters, especially considering its lack of headshot multiplier.
Trivia
- The pepperbox's model was made by Bob.
- It is based off of the List specifically as depicted in the animated series The Legend of Vox Machina.
- Both use a speedloader, likely to expedite the excruciatingly long reload times associated with pre-cartridge muzzleloaders.
- The pepperbox's method of ignition is unclear: although it superficially resembles a caplock, its ball and powder ammo does not feature percussion caps, and flintlocks must have their flashpans 'primed' with gunpowder for each shot.
