Mechanics and Play

The heavy revolver makes use of the powerful .44 cartridges, meaning it can dish out a fair amount of damage per shot, while staying accurate even at a distance. While the per-shot damage is lower than on the cheaper lever action rifle, it fires and reloads much quicker, meaning the effective damage per second is a fair bit higher.

The accuracy may be hampered by the fact that the iron sights lack the back part, making them rather clumsy to use. However, this can be fixed by installing a scope, which not only makes the sights way better to use, but also increases the zoom, allowing the revolver to be very effective at longer range.

Mods

  • Scope: Replaces the default sights with a scope, increasing the magnification and providing a much more accurate crosshair. Installing a scope renames the weapon to "Scoped .44 Magnum".

Trivia

  • The gun lacking half of the iron sights comes from the fact that the original model has a scope on it, which simply got removed for the "common" revolver variant. Coincidentally, this mirrors Paulson's revolver from the Fallout 3 DLC Mothership Zeta, where the original model too had a scope, which was simply removed, leaving the gun with no proper sights.
  • The gun's texture differs from many other guns because unlike most, the visuals weren't made along with the gun rework, but much earlier.
  • The heavy revolver is a variant of Little Macintosh, a scoped .44 revolver which is based on a gun of the same name from Fallout Equestria, which is based on the scoped .44 Magnum from Fallout 3, which is based on the gun wielded by Lord Humungus from Mad Max 2, which is a scoped version of the Smith & Wesson Model 29.
