Assault Rifle
The assault rifle (aka the G3) is a select-fire rifle chambered in 5.56mm ammunition. Unlike the StG 77's progressive trigger, it features a selector switch which manually flips between fire modes via secondary fire.
Crafting
The assault rifle can be crafted using the following recipe:

Mods
- Silencer: Replaces the firing sound with a much quieter one.
- Scope: Replaces the standard iron sights with x1.5 zoom with an optical scope with x3 magnification.
- Hacksaw: Removes the stock, shortening the draw duration from 0.5s to 0.25s. The recoil of the gun's animation is increased, although the player view recoil stays the same.
- Polymer Furniture (Green): Replaces the gun's wooden furniture with a green polymer one, reduces recoil.
- Polymer Furniture (Black): Replaces the gun's wooden furniture with a black polymer one, reduces recoil.
- 7.62mm Conversion Kit: Rechambers the gun from 5.56mm to the larger 7.62mm. Also allows use of depleted uranium and explosive rounds.
The assault rifle has a few unique names for mod combinations. Installing a silencer, scope, removed stock and black polymer furniture, the gun is renamed "Infiltrator", in reference to a gun of same name and makeup from the Fallout 3 DLC The Pitt. Installing green polymer furniture but keeping the stock at full length, it is renamed to "G3A3".
Trivia
- The assault rifle's model was made by Vær.
- It is largely based off of the R71 assault rifle as shown in the game Fallout 3.
- The real life H&K G3 is a battle rifle that fires 7.62x51mm NATO, whilst the R71 is an assault rifle firing 5.56mm.
- However, the R71 has a magazine capacity of only 24 rounds, whilst the assault rifle possesses a 30-round magazine.
- There are several (currently) unused objects in the model, as well as alternate textures.
- There is a fully-textured suppressor and magnified scope, and the stock itself is removable. Enabling all of these allows for an appearance similar to the Infiltrator from the Fallout 3 addon, The Pitt, excluding the carbine-length barrel and the black polymer furniture.
- Its alternate texture replaces the assault rifle's furniture — including the wooden handguard, stock, and rubber grip — with green polymer. This results in a similar look to the real-life A3 variant, although the color is much closer to the StG 77's polymer.
