Solar System (NTM: Space)

From HBM's Nuclear Tech Wiki
(Redirected from Earth)

The Solar System in NTM: Space is based on the Kerbol System from the popular rocket building and space travel game Kerbal Space Program. The planets within are interesting and varied analogs of the real Solar System, asking various "what-if"s about the planets we know and love to make for a more interesting and varied experience than the planets as we know them could provide.

You can travel between bodies in the solar system using either a rocket built in a VAB, or an orbital station.

Tier 0

All the bodies in this tier can be accessed without a improved drive processor chip installed into a drive processor, and are therefore accessible immediately once cracked oil processing is achieved.

Earth

A striking rock formation on Earth

The starting point of almost all Minecraft playthroughs, this planet is full of places to explore, and structures to loot for a large boost in the early game. In terms of renewable resources, it can hardly be beat for carbon based products, such as plant life, frackable bedrock oil deposits, and coal. However, on the renewable minerals front, bedrock ore on the planet is limited, but it does fortunately have the basics.

Mun

Mun Cows can be found rarely on the Mun

Your first destination! Absolutely chock full of lithium, quartz, and most importantly, your first source of nickel to start producing stainless steel for space-grade machinery. The Mun is the first atmosphere-less body available in a regular playthrough, necessary for making the first tier of drive processors in the vacuum solderer. Cows with breathing headgear can be found here, inspired by the moonwalking cows from an April Fools update.

Available Bedrock Ores
Ore Type Primary Sulfuric Solvent High-Performance Solvent
Light Metal Iron Lithium Sodium Chlorocalcite
Heavy Metal Lead Zinc Gold Bismuth
Rare-Earth Cobalt Rare Earth Neodymium Strontium
Non-Metal Sulfur Fluorite Niter Silicon
Crystalline Redstone Sodalite Emerald Cinnabar

Minmus

The mint-choc-chip landscape that is Minmus

The B-Side destination alternative to the Mun, Minmus is characterized by a distinctive mint-choc-chip ice-cream aesthetic. Pumps function here, but instead of producing water, this moon bizarrely produces milk, allowing for full automation of butter, milkshakes and ice-cream.

Available Bedrock Ores
Ore Type Primary Sulfuric Solvent High-Performance Solvent
Light Metal Copper Titanium Chlorocalcite Copper
Heavy Metal Lead Gold Tungsten Bismuth
Rare-Earth Zirconium Boron Cobalt Strontium
Non-Metal Sulfur Niter Fluorite Silicon
Crystalline Emerald Sodalite Diamond Emerald

Tier 1

To access these celestial bodies, a vacuum solderer must be used to craft the first tier of drive processor upgrade, which must be done in a vacuum. Both the Mun and Minmus have no atmospheres, which means this can be done on either body to proceed.

Duna

A beautiful inverted Dunaian sunrise

The red planet, home to vast quantities of iron. Molysite and volcano gems can be found here in basaltic caves, found within basins where vast oceans were theorized to once exist. A new world can be started from this location if world type The Martian is selected when generating.

Ike

Duna as seen from Ike

Ike, the sole moon of Duna, has hints of a past as a significant hazardous waste dump, with large spires and pyramids reminiscent of potential designs on Earth for warning future civilizations of great danger in relation to nuclear waste. Meteor dungeons spawn more frequently here, and pools of alkyl bromide can be found on the surface. Ike is one of only two locations where mineral dust can be extracted.

Ore Type Primary Sulfuric Solvent High-Performance Solvent
Light Metal Copper Cryolite Nickel Sodium
Heavy Metal Lead Zinc Gold Arsenic
Rare-Earth Boron Neodymium Strontium Lanthanium
Hazardous Uranium Uranium-238 Plutonium Technetium

Moho

A naturally generated volcano on Moho

A fair-dinkum planet, hot as hell, and full of rare resources generally only found in the Nether. Australium is only found here, in vast quantities deep under the surface. Some of the largest caves ever generated within Minecraft can be found here, perfect for an evil lair. Moho is the other available option for extracting mineral dust, for producing your first gallium.

Light Metal Titanium Chlorocalcite Nickel Lithium
Heavy Metal Gold Zinc Lead Bismuth
Rare-Earth Neodymium Zirconium Bromine Strontium
Actinide Australium Australium Tasmanite Ayerite
Non-Metal Glowstone Red Phosphorus Sulfur White Phosphorus
Crystalline Cinnabar Redstone Quartz Molysite

Tier 2

To travel to these celestial bodies, further progress must be made with the drive processor upgrades, utilizing gallium - which can be procured by processing rich mineral deposits found on Ike and Moho, and arsenic - which is found on Ike in bedrock ore, or on Earth via dirt and stone that has been damaged by hydraulic fracking.

Dres

Dres... A big boring grey rock

This planet has some of the most prized resources in the whole system, with even the primary fraction of bedrock ore consisting of incredibly valuable metals and materials. Niobium, coltan, and lanthanium ore is present here in vast quantities.

Eve

A meteor dungeon spire stretched over an Eve spike

While it is possible to travel here with only a tier 2 drive processor to exploit the incredibly powerful schrabidic resources that exist here, players will not last long without the appropriate armor inserts, due to the highly corrosive atmosphere melting any armor it comes into contact with. These armor inserts must be crafted with combine steel and neon gas, found in the atmosphere of Jool.

Tier 3

In order to travel to Laythe, the current sole tier 3 destination, you will need to procure the rare light metal hafnium to produce the requisite chips, which at this stage in progression can only be obtained by centrifuging niobium crystals, which must be created from niobium ore, only found on Dres and Eve.

Laythe

Beautiful rock formations at sunset on Laythe

A beautiful water world, teeming with life, oceans lit up with fields of glowgrass, and dotted with sunken submarines from previous explorers who attempted to exploit the natural resources found here. Seems that the place doesn't like intruders. Jool gas can be harvested from here using a gas giant harvester.
