Sulfuric Acid

From HBM's Nuclear Tech Wiki

Sulfuric acid is a corrosive liquid used in many chemical plant, ore acidizer or large mining drill recipes, including the creation of nitric acid, saturnite and arsenic production. When dispensed or spilled, It will deal 5 points of damage every tick to entities. Items dropped in sulfuric acid dissolve after a few seconds, eminating a characteristic hiss.

Sulfuric Acid

Production

It can be made in a chemical plant and industrial mixer, by mixing 800mB of hydrogen peroxide with sulfur, or made by reforming 1,000mB of sour gas, resulting in 750mB of sulfuric acid. The reforming method is commonly used in later game stages where Sulfuric Acid becomes important in for example bedrock ore processing, but also due to how easier and faster it is to reform sour gas, than to create a sulfur factory.

Alternatively you can find sulfuric acid in sulfurous stone caves in small puddles.

Trivia

  • If a slimeball is destroyed by sulfuric acid and you are nearby, you will get an achievement "I should not have dipped my balls in sulfuric acid.".
  • In NTM, sulfuric acid is considered to be corrosive, while nitric acid is classified as strongly corrosive, which in normal conditions is wrong, as the pKa of sulfuric acid is -2.8, while nitric acid is only -1.4.
