Meteor Dungeon

From HBM's Nuclear Tech Wiki

The Meteor Dungeon is a very rare structure that can be found on the surface in non-ocean biomes. The presence of entire blocks of starmetal and red crates make this a valuable destination, but can be very hazardous to unprepared players. It is highly recommended to have an electric set of armor for exploring these locations, as tesla coils can rapidly kill an unprotected player.

Generation

Meteor Dungeon pillar/indicator.

It can generate in any non-ocean biome. The dungeon itself won’t be visible, but it will generate a small pillar that can be mistaken for a charred tree, with a set of spindly root-like tendrils extending outwards from the base, this base can help to locate it on maps.

The structure is the rarest spawn in the mod, and can be made more common in config by reducing the spawn weights of the other modern NTM structures.

The pillar is 4 blocks tall, it's black and has the Lambda logo (λ) on top.

Note that the pillar generates before trees do, meaning they may cover the pillar, it may be necessary to search through thick forests more thoroughly to find these pillars.

Dangers and Possible Strategy

The dungeon can be classified as possibly the most dangerous structure in the mod. Aside from the very low light level that spawns vanilla mobs, as well as cyber crab assemblers, which should be destroyed first when preparing an expedition. Before attempting to enter manually, one should equip themselves with enough kinetic weapons and ammunition. (at least desh tier weapons like the SPAS-12) If possible, a gassing operation can be attempted, where the tunnels are filled with chlorine gas to kill most mobs. The remaining mobs should be cleared manually. Do not use nuclear or explosive weapons in the vicinity of the dungeon, as it could damage rooms, and cause a leak of contaminants (notably balefire).

You can use water to flood the rooms containing cyber crab assemblers, which will block spawning and rapidly damage and destroy any crabs that do spawn, however, these assemblers are sometimes raised from the floor, making them harder to submerge.
