Diamonds are a somewhat rare natural resource that can also be produced artificially. It was the ultimate material in vanilla Minecraft for many years, but in NTM, it both has very few meaningful uses and is incredibly easy to produce in bulk with either the advanced ore processing or purely synthetically.
Production
It can be mined at deep levels in the Overworld in small veins. Industrial grade ore processing allows for considerable extraction that conventional mining would not allow.
It can also be produced artificially by compressing carbon.
