A small radar.

Radars are a collection of two machines that can both detect airborne objects (any object above y=110), map out surrounding loaded terrain, and designate targets for weaponry. The small radar is capable of performing all of these functions within an approximately 2000x2000 block area centered on itself when provided with 10kHE/s of energy. The large radar acts the exact same except that it covers a 6000x6000 block area.

Radars are the only means of constructing automated missile defense and early warning systems.

GUI and Operation

The radar's GUI has a multitude of functions which are described in text when hovering over their icons. The primary point of interest in the radar's GUI is the large screen which will display any airborne entities that it detects as well as information about them, such as what type of object it is, what tier it is (if it is a missile), and its exact position in the world.

When detecting any entity, the radar will emit a redstone signal whose exact output conditions can be changed with buttons in the main radar GUI. In typical operation, it will output a full strength redstone signal whenever it detects any airborne object. Usually this is used for either early missile or artillery warning systems or anti ballistic missile deployment setups by wiring the redstone output into a missile launch pad.

Additional functionality is contained in the menu accessible by clicking the purple icon in the bottom left and is described below.

  1. Weaponry Linkers. Slots for radar linkers connected to weapons to be placed in. When a linker with a valid target is placed inside of a numbered slot, that weapon can then be directed to fire at a position that the mouse is hovered over on the main radar screen by pressing the corresponding number key. This behavior works with artillery, missile launching pads, and rocket artillery.
  2. Screen Linker. Slot for radar linkers connected to radar screens to be placed in. Radar screens show the main radar display on their front face and allow for remote access to all of the radar's functionality.
  3. Battery Slot. Slot for any power containing item.
