Smokestacks

(Redirected from Smokestack)

Smokestacks are large machines used to vent polluting fluids into the air from exhaust pipes. They reduce pollution emission compared to venting directly from the machine. In the mod there are two variants with identical functionality.

Smokestack

The smokestack

The Smokestack is a 13x3 machine that reduces pollution emission by 75%. It has 4 ports for exhaust pipes. Despite the shaft being visually made of  firebrick, it is made of normal bricks. It was added in update 1.0.27X4648, being compatible with soot, heavy metal, and poison pollution. As of 1.0.27X4724, the smokestack can also capture fly ash and is compatible with the ashpit.

Usage

To use the smokestack, an exhaust pipe must be connected to one of the ports. Then, smoke will soon exit the smokestack.

Crafting

The smokestack has a fairly early game recipe, only needing bricks and steel. This makes it easy to mass produce if the player has multiple polluting machines.

Industrial Smokestack

The industrial smokestack

The Industrial Smokestack is a larger, 23x3 variant (matching the size of the coker unit) of the smokestack that is more expensive and works on the same concept, but reduces pollution by 90% (over 15% more). It has 4 ports for exhaust pipes. It was added in update 1.0.27X4724, with the same compatibility of the smokestack but with the added bonus of capturing fine soot.

Usage

The usage of the industrial smokestack is identical to the normal variant, where an exhaust pipe is connected from a polluting machine to the smokestack.

Crafting

The industrial smokestack is more expensive, needing a stack of concrete and steel. Whether or not the recipe is worth it for the 15% relative improvement depends on the player's progression and needs.
