Fluid Burner

From HBM's Nuclear Tech Wiki
The Fluid Burner

The fluid burner is a 3x3x2 machine that is capable of generating TU from flammable fluids, and transferring it to machines that require them to operate, like a crucible. This is the only one of the 4 TU generating machines that requires fluids to operate; the other 3 are the firebox & heating oven that require solid fuels, and the electric heater which uses HE energy.

Crafting

Despite looking way fancier and advanced than its sister machines, this TU generator is actually pretty cheap. Crafted on a tier 2 anvil, it requires the following materials:

Operation

GUI for the Fluid Burner. On the left: the buffer for fluids. On the right, the buffer for TU.

Just like its electric and solid burning counterparts, the Fluid Burner needs to be placed below the machine that requires the TU. Both its copper heat plate and the one in this fluid burner must be aligned to work correctly. Since this device burns fluids for TU, it can buffer up to 16,000 mB of them, assuming it's a valid choice (Any liquid with the flammable tag). The player can insert the fluids with the container slots, or by using one of the 4 ports located on the lower part of the machine. The fluid's type can also be changed using the fluid identifier slot, located right below the fluid buffer. This machine also buffers up to 100,000 TU, indicated by a bar on the rightmost side of the GUI. If this buffer is filled, the machine will not consume any more fluid, but it also has an on/off knob to ensure the machine is not in operation.

Another unique trait this device has is the monitored consumption rate and TU production. These values are measured in ticks per second, and are indicated with a pop-up on the middle part of the screen, activated by simply looking at the machine. The fluid consumption rate can be configured anywhere from 1 mB/t to 10 mB/t using a screwdriver and right clicking on the machine.

Trivia

  • There's a way to stack TU up to insane amounts using these burners. Or not. Maybe? Try to figure that out...
  • Despite using one of the strongest TU fuels in the game, the NITAN© 100 Octane Super Fuel, and setting the machine to maximum consumption, it's still not enough to make the crucible smelt items instantly.
