Tool abilities are NTM specific special functions that most tools have, often categorized with a certain type of tool. They are comparable to enchantments, but come inherently with the tool set you use. Most are utility based, but some are combat or novelty oriented.
Abilities with a number in parenthesis signifies the "strength" of that particular ability. The specific purpose is elaborated on in each relevant ability.
Weapon Abilities
Abilities typically only found in swords or other weapons. Most are "modifiers", which means they cannot be turned off.
- Decapitator
- Flaming
- Sets the target on fire for the specified amount of time.
- Luck of the Collector
- Provides a small chance to drop Bobbleheads.
- A novelty ability.
- Phosphorus Tip
- Inflicts phosphorus burns for the specified amount of time.
- Similar to flaming, but with a longer duration and cannot be extinguished until the time runs out.
- Radioactive Blade
- Inflicts the specified amount of RAD.
- Useful for combat against high health enemies, since radiation poisoning ignores health and gives other detrimental effects at high enough levels.
- Stunning
- Inflicts a high slowness effect for the specified duration, effectively immobilizing them.
- Not a true stun since they can still attack you.
- Vampire
- Restores health of the wielder by the specified amount.
Tool Abilities
Abilities typically only found in tools.
- AoE
- "Area of Effect", mines a small area of the specified size instead of one block at a time.
- Useful for creating tunnels or destroying things.
- Auto-Centrifuge
- Automatically attempts to centrifuge the mined block.
- Auto-Crystallizer

- Explosion
- Creates an explosion of the specified size every time at the location of the mined block.
- Fortune
- Gives the enchantment effect "fortune" of the specified equivalent level, which increases the drop rate of certain ores like coal.
- Useful when you only want the basic material quickly without complicated processing.
- Mercury Touch
- Converts redstone blocks and ore into a random amount of mercury drops.
- Easiest way to produce large amounts of mercury from common redstone.
- Silk Touch
- Gives the enchantment "silk touch", which prevents most blocks from dropping something other than themselves, such as coal ore or glass.
- Useful for ores similar to coal that can be more efficiently processed with a machine or normally drop nothing like glass.
- Vein Miner
- Mines all of the same type of block up to the specified size.
- As the name suggests, useful for efficiently mining whole ore veins at a time.
Trivia
- The "painsaw" ability is a reference to DOOM (4/2016) and DOOM: Eternal, which introduced the concept of using the chainsaw to replenish ammunition.'
- It originally dropped random ammunition types of various calibers and subtypes, but it was changed to allow the player to choose what ammo they wanted and to prevent inventory clutter.
