The IF-18 Horseshoe Scoped (aka Little Macintosh, formerly Lil Pipsqeak) is a single action, 6 shot, scoped revolver chambered in .44 Magnum. It is one of the first guns to be completely reworked, from model to behavior. It can use any .44 Magnum variant, even the rare "secret" rounds. It is effectively semi-automatic.

Mechanics and Play

The .44 Magnum is quite a powerful and accurate handgun round, second only to perhaps the .50 Action Express, capable of killing any generic vanilla monster in 1 - 2 shots. The boxcar round also deals significant damage to anything that remains underneath the spawned boxcar. While the gun's mechanism is stated to be single action, which is why the hammer is pulled after each shot, this does not affect the fire rate in any meaningful way.

The scope sets the FOV to 0.25 (quadruple magnification), which allows it to become a competent sniper, which paired with the high damage and accuracy of the cartridge, makes it reasonably effective at the role. The speed of the projectile must be noted, however, as it is rather slow, and requires aiming ahead, even at low range. It also lacks a headshot damage multiplier, which does reduce effectiveness.

The Horseshoe also sports a high durability compared to virtually all other non-reworked guns, with an estimated lifespan of 31,000 rounds, assuming only the default round is used and no maintenance at all occurs. This makes it comparatively durable and able to remain serviceable for a prolonged time without maintenance.

Trivia

  • The model has fully detailed bullets that appropriately lack the projectile when ejecting the spent casings.
    • The rounds appear to be hollow points, even when other ammo types are loaded. The casings even specify "JHP" - jacketed hollow point.
  • While it is a single action, the reload function of the cylinder is more typical of double action revolvers instead.
