Arc Furnace (DEPRECATED)

The Arc Furnace was an electrically powered furnace that is significantly faster than the electric furnace that requires the insertion of three electrodes in order to function. These electrodes are either made of graphite which will take one durability damage for each item processed or desh which are unbreakable. It was removed as it was replaced by machine of more modern mod standards, the electric arc furnace.

Usage

In order to be used, three electrodes must be placed in the lower three slots of the furnace. Each of these electrodes can be of any type, meaning that both graphite and desh electrodes could have been used at the same time in the same furnace.

During operation, graphite electrodes would take one point of damage for every operation and will turn into molten electrodes once broken whereas desh electrodes would take no damage. Molten electrodes could've been shredded to yield one coal powder which returns 1/3 of its recipe cost.

Besides from the electrodes, the furnace operated like a normal electric furnace and consumed 5 kHE/s during operation.

Unlike the electric furnace though, it did not have an upgrade slot, meaning that it was nearly matched in speed by an electric furnace with a Speed III upgrade despite still consuming less energy than the arc furnace.

Trivia

Arc furnaces are often used in real life for large scale foundry work instead of the smaller smelting jobs as the arc furnace in game can only do.
